AFL Round 19 – Collingwood Vs St Kilda

This game was a must-win for the club. After all the furore over the Heath Shaw-Alan Didak incident during the week, the club has been pilloried from every angle. This game could also decide who plays in September and who doesn’t. At the very least, it could be the difference of relying on other results or not. The Saints are the other team that you are not sure which one will turn up.

Thankfully, we turned up for this one…  We came out hard and put the Saints on the back foot. They did come back at us but we were able to hold on… This could be part of the trip back to the finals…

Report:
Aaron Fiora
(StK) reported for striking John McCarthy (Col) in Q2. Fiora was charged with a Level Two striking offence. Fiora’s existing carry over points from the past 12 months means his one-game ban cannot be reduced.
The incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Two offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has 45 demerit points carried over from within the last 12 months, increasing the penalty to 170 demerit points and a one-match sanction. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 127.50 points and a one-match sanction.
Fiora admitted guilt and accepted the MRP penalty of a one-match suspension
