After all the buildup, i finally set up my new Dell XPS 1530 laptop for use at home and work. I have set up Virtual PC to use and XP work image for Remote access (because our lame-O VPN solution has XP-only clients and budget approval for an upgrade is not yet approved), a Vista Business Work image for in the office and an Ubuntu image for seeing what all the fuss is about. It works pretty well so far. I am still having some performance issues though, it seems a bit slower than it should be. the McAfee Internet Security doesn’t have the ability to exclude virus scanning on the VM images and unfortunately everything is on 1 partition. That is pretty much everything they tell you NOT to do. Oh well, until i redo all the partitions and the like, I’m stuck with that at the moment
Anyway, the laptop is bloody fine otherwise….
