Office 2007 beta 2

Well, here we are using Office 2007 beta 2 for the first time, posting blog entries from within Word 2007. It makes it so simple and hopefully cures my typing inaccuracies. I thought that I would have trouble adapting to the new User Interface with the Ribbon et al but it seems so logical and simplified. I was over-thinking it at first looking too hard for solutions when it was right there in front of me…

I was going to do a more in-depth look at it but Queensland staged a fightback in the State of Origin (only to be pipped at the post)….

You inspired me to have to download the Beta as well.
You are right to say it is very easy to get used to.
As a heavyOne Note and Outlook 2003 user, the new integration in 2007 is great!

Ahh, but I have found the flaw for now.  I am also a heavy user of Windows Desktop Search and I have found that if you download the Beta 3.0 then you can’t search for things out of Outlook or OneNote-
"This release is an Engine Preview of WDS 3.0 Beta. It contains the WDS 3.0 engine only and is meant to support searching from desktop applications such as Microsoft Office Outlook and OneNote 2007. Since this release does not provide a full desktop search experience, users of earlier versions of Windows Desktop Search should not upgrade see » Windows Desktop Search 3.0 (KB917013)
Looks like I will have to wait for "The next beta release of WDS 3.0 will include end-user UI to allow searching over all indexed content from a single place"
Mean while, I found this on a technet forum which is kind of related and helps to stop you from being constantly prompted to download WDS 3.0 –

Actually, i rarely use Windows Desktop Search, although if i had Vista and Office on my Work Laptop, i probably would. If i actually thought tat work would fork out for Vista/Office upgrades, i would test it more from a work viewpoint.

Me again. Have you had success posting documents with images in them from Word?
If so, whet URL did you put in?

  5. Brett says:

alas no… i haven’t worked it out yet. Nor has too many searches revealed it either, just that it can do it, not how to do it…
